Inspiring Media

Wholesome films & videos

Media plays a large role in shaping our thinking and actions. I don't watch that much media, so I'm sure that I have missed many beautiful works of art, and the list below surely reflects my biases and world view.

That said, below is a list of films that has stayed with me because I felt that they reflected inspiring visions of a loving world.

They inspired me, impacted my life, and helped me act in what I believe are more loving ways in the world. I wanted to share them in case you are looking to be inspired and these gems resonate with you.

Malala

This documentary about Malala shook me to my core when I watched it years ago. Malala's bravery to stand up against the Taliban, her tenacity in advocating for girls' education, and her father's loving support were inspiring in many ways that continue to live with me today.

Father Gregory Boyle

Father Gregory Boyle started Homeboy Industries, the world's largest gang rehab program. His book "Barking To The Choir" and talks on creating a world based on compassion, kinship, and believing in people's goodness and capacity to transform their lives are powerful.

Elephant film

This precious short documentary about an Indigenous couple who helps take care of elephants in India is a gem. It's a pleasure to watch the loving relationship between these humans and their animals. I also loved the non-judgmental glimpse into the lifestyle of the people who care for the elephants. I felt I had much to learn from them and found myself yearning for the abundance of living close to nature.

Live to Lead

A series of short conversations with people leading our world in a more loving direction. This mini series is a great reminder that love exists, that there are many people working to build a loving world, and that you have the power to make a difference!

Dating on the Spectrum

A dating reality show about people on the autism Spectrum in Australia. Heartwarming, sweet, supportive, and real.
